Turkish women, influenced by their environment, have expressed their feelings and thoughts through colors and motifs in needlework. No nation in the world possesses as rich resources in folk art as Anatolia. Needlework is one of the most important examples of our traditional culture and handicrafts. Needlework, one of the starting points of the LINOYA brand, is an art entirely unique to the Turkish people. Needlework, which has entered world literature as "Turkish Lace" or "Needle Lace," has very ancient documentation in Anatolia. It is also believed that the biggest factor in the emergence and development of needlework was Anatolia's location on the Silk Road and its silk production. Europe only became acquainted with needle lace in the 16th century.
From ancient examples found in the excavations in Memphis in 1905, it was determined that the origins of this art date back to 2000 BC. Another source concludes that it spread from Anatolia to the Balkans and then to Europe via Italy in the 12th century...
According to the research results; the fact that the word OYA (lace) has no equivalent in other languages ​​shows that this art is unique to the Ottoman Turks and especially to Turkish women.
Needle lace was born from the combination of the art of knitting and flower arrangement; it is a Turkish handicraft made using a needle for decoration and adornment, and its technique is knitting.
It is also known that needle laces are used as a means of communication and messaging in terms of form, color and composition, and completely reflect the superior taste, intelligence, refinement and creativity of the Turkish people. Lace, extending from the Ottoman era to the present day, is not only a symbol of beauty with its traditional characteristics, ancient history, and the expression "like lace," but it has also enabled society to see the good and the beautiful, while simultaneously serving as a source of livelihood for low-income families. Needle lace artists, in creating their works, have shaped their hopes, love, and sorrows—the emotions they have experienced or not experienced—in abstract and concrete forms.
